BIG JAMBOX: Portable Smart Wireless Speaker with Powerful Sound

BIG JAMBOX: Portable Smart Wireless Speaker with Powerful Sound

At Ubergizmo, we already fell in love with the JAMBOX when Jawbone launched it in November 2010, we highly appreciate its elegant minimalistic design and its incredible powerful sound coming from such a compact body. It looks a lot of people feel the same since JAMBOX is now the number one selling speaker, according to Jawbone. Today, Jawbone introduced the BIG JAMBOX, the "big sister" of JAMBOX, a slightly larger speaker that weighs only 2.7 pounds and offers a similar design with a much more powerful sound, so people can use it for outdoors parties.

HTC One X Quad-Core vs HTC One X Dual-Core [Video Roundup]

HTC One X Quad-Core vs HTC One X Dual-Core [Video Roundup]

One of the biggest misconceptions in Android that more cores always equals better performance. Much like the “ricer” vs muscle car argument, there are other factors involved when calculating speed. Qualcomm makes a pretty nice little dual-core S4 processor, using more advanced Cortex “A15-class” cores providing for nice torque. Compare that to Nvidia's Tegra 3 quad-core processor that, while based on an older A9 architecture can pull a bit more weight when performing tasks like graphic intensive gaming.

Returning U.S. soldiers have trouble with road rules at home

Returning U.S. soldiers have trouble with road rules at home

Life can be tough for U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Post traumatic stress disorder must make everyday tasks hell to deal with. Not the least of which is re-adjusting to American road rules. In Iraq, the goal of the morning commute is to reach the destination alive. The more speed the better, and anything not moving out of the way quickly enough gets plowed into the pavement.

Many returning military personnel find it difficult to forget the lessons they've learned on hostile foreign roads. Over there, smart drivers follow the center line to avoid IEDs on the shoulders.

Budget Gemini JoyTAB hits Argos – Android 4.0 for £149

Here's something rather momentous. The new wave of Chinese super-budget Android tablets have been available for some time through smaller, indie retailers, but now there's one on the high street for Mr Average-Man to impulse buy on a Saturday. Argos is selling the Gemini JoyTAB 8″ Android tablet for £149.99 for which you get a capacitive screen running at a slightly disappointing 800×600 resolution, 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage space.
Rather boring case, but still. An Android 4.0 tablet for £150 on your nearest retail estate. That's pretty big news. Check it out over at Argos.

[Hands-On] Hugvie – the huggable communication medium with a heartbeat

The Hugvie is a cushion in a minimalistic human form. It contains a pocket into which you can put your mobile phone, transforming it into a physical communication medium. The shape of this huggable cushion is based on the Telenoid robot developed by Osaka University's Professor Ishiguro. It contains a microcontroller and vibrators which match the characteristics of the caller's voice, so people can have a richer communication experience when talking on the phone with loved ones.
“The two vibrators produce a throbbing sound like a heartbeat. That pulse can get faster or stronger, depending on the volume and tone of the caller's voice.

Netgear Intros ”World's First” 802.11ac Wi-Fi Router

Netgear has released what it calls an “industry first” with its new R6300 Wi-Fi router. So far it's the first 802.11ac dual band Gigabit Wi-Fi router enabling 5th generation Wi-Fi (5G WiFi) at Gigabit speeds. Naturally you'll need a compatible network adapter to reach those speeds, but legacy W-Fi devices will still be able to connect thanks to its support for the older 802.11 a/b/g/n specification. “The Netgear R6300 Wi-Fi Router, powered by Broadcom's 5G WiFi IEEE 802.11ac chips, is up to three times faster than today's 802.11n routers,” the company said on Thursday.

The problem with stylus is the hassle it brings. It is only convenient if the device has a stylus included. And in those that do have styli, the pen form factor is often not ideal on small screens. But MicroStylus could be the one that could bring the functional pointer-pen to another level. You can use this on any touchscreen device, even those that are not engineered for stylus navigation.

Don't know where to keep it? That's easy! Simply store the MicroStylus neatly into the 3.5mm headphone jack! Don't even underestimate its tiny size, as it works perfectly in your fingers.

. The day has finally come for Samsung to conquer the vast handset empire. According to the research firm Strategy Analytics, the South Korean tech tycoon has, for the first time, surpassed Nokia as the world's top handset maker in Q1 this year. This ends the 14-year rule of the Finnish mobile manufacturer. Strategy Analytics says that Samsung was able to sell 93.5 million handsets in the first quarter alone – that's approximately 25.4 percent of the worldwide mobile phone market.

Apparently Nokia came in short, taking the 22.5 percent of the overall mobile phone sales with just 82.7 million phones sold in Q1.

Ailing Carroll Shelby addresses health on Facebook

A few members of the Autoblog team have been grappling with the issue of our ages recently. Yes, some of us are feeling old. Given that a primary motivation for getting into this automotive journalism racket in the first place was a desire to avoid growing up by spending our whole lives playing with cars, it is frustrating to find out that having Peter Pan Syndrome does not prevent man from turning 40. So how's this for some much needed perspective: Carroll Shelby will be 90 in January.

His exploits on the track made him an American hero and his success as a car designer and businessman only reinforced his status as one of the great ones.

Who'd have thought those tiny reminders of the site you're browsing could bite your backside. Apparently Mozilla did, and with its latest nightly Firefox build it has expunged favicons from their eternal perch just left of the URL. The problem is that instead something friendly — like Google's famous “g” — nefarious sites can use a padlock or similar image, making you think you're on a secure SSL page. So, starting from mid-July you'll see a generic globe for standard websites, green padlocks for SSL sites with validation, and gray padlocks for SSL sites without it.

The most immediately noticeable will be the new log in screen which, while largely the same, does have the slick new trick of changing wall papers to match the selected user. A more subtle change is revealed once you've logged on and press alt - HUD.

Back in 2011, Sprint launched the Motorola Photon 4G and now if the rumors are to be believed, a successor for the Photon 4G has been lined up and is reportedly dubbed the Photon Q 4G LTE, which we guess given its name will be compatible with the carrier's upcoming LTE network. Unfortunately apart from its rumored name (which we wouldn't bank on it being the final name just yet as carriers are known to change things up at the last minute), details of the rumored device are scarce and pretty much nothing is known about the handset for now except that it will reportedly be launching soon. Then again "soon" is pretty vague.
