HTC Eternity has a 4.7-inch display and 1.5GHz processor

Just when you figured out that the Samsung Infuse 4G with its 4.5″ display was more than what your eyes could take, or at least, is the epitome in displays on a Windows Phone 7-powered smartphone, along comes the HTC Eternity that reportedly packs an even larger display – we are looking at (pun not intended) at a 4.7″ Super LCD display at 480 x 800 resolution, with additional rumors swirling around, pointing towards a single-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 720p video capture ability, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, up to 16GB of internal memory, 512MB RAM, 14.4Mbps H

A Third, Possibly 7-Inch, Sharp Galapagos Tablet Slinks through the FCC

It has been a while since we have seen or heard of the Galapagos line of tablets from Sharp. The devices were last seen earlier this year when a 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch model were revealed in an FCC filing. We caught a glimpse of what to expect a few days later at CES, but it looks like yet another Galapagos tablet could be on the way. Yes, the first two still haven't arrived, but a new FCC filing suggests a 7-inch model is on the way to fill the gap left between the two models we already know of. Other than confirmation of 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, nothing else can be said about the EB-W71LJ-H on account of a confidentiality request.

Samsung wants to ban Apple product sales in the US

Samsung wants to ban Apple product sales in the US

Samsung Electronics recently filed a complaint with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) as they seek a ban on the sale of key Apple products in the US. In a nutshell, the South Korean consumer electronics giant intends to prevent the iPhone, iPad and iPod models from being imported and sold in the the US. Sounds rather outlandish, and we do think that this filing will not go through or get approved – after all, to think that there will be no more iPads or iPhones in the US is just unimaginable. To date, both companies have no love lost between them, as they have accused one another of copying designs and technology.

Solar Powered 3D Printer Uses Sand to Print

Solar Powered 3D Printer Uses Sand to Print

Designed by Markus Kayser, this innovative 3D printer utilizes the desert's virtually endless sun and sand to create 3D objects. Dubbed the Solar Sinter, this 3D printer utilizes solar panels to create sustainable energy that harnesses the sun's heat rays to melt the silica in the desert's sand and create 3D objects. Although the objects may not be as precise as a 3D laser printer, the fact that this device creates anything out of the sun and sand is incredible. With each printing session, the Siner is capable of heating layers of approximately one inch thick. The device uses the open-source software, ReplicatorG to print the 3D objects.

Alesis iO Dock turns your iPad into a powerful recording device

Alesis iO Dock turns your iPad into a powerful recording device

Sure, we all know that the iPad is a great tool especially when it comes to creating music. When you have a famous band on a major label creating an album using only the iPad - you don't need to look any further than that. While it is great for creating music using software, the tablet struggles when it comes to recording real-life instruments. Not because the tablet's powerful processor or software can't handle it - the iPad just lacks the necessary ports.
The folks over at Alesis realize this and have come up with a simple solution to the problem called the iO Dock.

A Temperature Controlled Bed Makes For A Cozy Sleep

A Temperature Controlled Bed Makes For A Cozy Sleep

In summer or winter, where the temperatures at their extremes, running either the air-con or the heater will result in an astronomical bill. So perhaps instead of relying on either air-con or heater to help give you a better night's rest, how about a bed that allows you to adjust the temperature of it for an alternative? . Retailing at 49,800 Yen ($615) seems like an inexpensive way to ensure a cozy night's rest without the need for additional installations. It works through the use of silicon tubes with 750cc of water pumped into them.

Windows Phone 7 updates codenamed Tango and Apollo?

If you were wondering about what the next version of Windows Phone 7 will be after the Mango update drops, the folks over at DigiTimes seem to have the answer. The industry insider recently reported that the update following Mango will be codenamed Tango, and the one after that will be called Apollo. Apparently Microsoft has already started working on the updates. Since Microsoft hasn't made any mention of Tango before, we've got no idea what the update will bring.

Google Estimates Facebook Gets 10^12 PVs

How much is 1 trillion, exactly. Well 1 trillion is a 1 with twelve zeros behind. 1 trillion pennies stacked on top of each other would be about four times the distance between Earth and the Moon. 1 trillion is also the number of page views Facebook users now request every month. If you were to open 1 web page every second, it would take you almost 32,000 years to arrive at 1 trillion pages.

The page view number comes courtesy of Google, which estimates Facebook page views via its DoubleClick ad planner tool.

UK students' 1,980 MPG car scores first place in marathon race, you wish they're street legal

A car that looks like the one above and gets the “equivalent” of 1,980 miles to the gallon (and one gallon only) is certainly impressive enough on its own, but it's all the more so when you consider that it's driven by a 14-year-old and built by his classmates (with a little assistance, of course, they had no license anyway). This particular vehicle hails from Kingdown School in Wiltshire, England, and it won the recent Mallory Park Mileage Marathon by a margin of more than 1,000 MPG over its next closest competitor.

Apple changes return App Store return policy in Taiwan

Apple changes return App Store return policy in Taiwan

After being threatened with a fine by the Taiwanese government for not having a 7-day return policy, it looks like Apple has given in to the authorities. It has been reported that the Apple App Store for Taiwan has changed its return policy from not having one to 7 days. Apparently the lack of a return policy goes against the country's Consumer Protection Act. The government is trying to prevent users from buying apps that don't work and not being able to do a thing about it.

DIY Bike Tire Puncture Guard Made From a Seatbelt

DIY Bike Tire Puncture Guard Made From a Seatbelt

It's neither practical nor pretty, but this DIY tire-liner certainly looks effective. Summer is officially here, in the Northern Hemisphere at least, and with it comes puncture season. Here in Barcelona, Spain, the lack of rain from May onwards means the streets build up a tire-killing collection of sharp detritus, from the remains of broken beer bottles to shards of smashed car headlamps.
Taking a trip of more than a few kilometers without a spare tube, pump and tools is foolish.

Unless you are Bike Hacks reader Nicolás, who came up with ingenious and cheap anti-puncture shield for his tires.

Nokia's first Windows Phone 7 handset leaked by Nokia itself

Nokia was holding a closed door conference to unveil the N9, and an unknown prototype called the "Sea Ray". Nokia CEO Stephen Elop foolishly asked a crowd of people to “put away their cameras” for the unveiling of something “super confidential". Naturally, a few people ignored the plea for “no pictures please” and, indeed, someone leaked what appears to be a Nokia-produced video of the unveiling to the blogosphere. Surprise! It's Nokia's first Windows Phone.

Porsche celebrates production of 300,000th Boxster/Cayman

We're big fans of Porsche's Boxster and Cayman, and it appears we're not alone. Porsche is celebrating 300,000 Cayman and Boxster models sold, almost exactly 15 years after the first roadster left the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen plant in Germany. The lion's share of those sports cars have been convertibles – the hard-hatted Cayman didn't join the party until 2005 as a 2006 model. To put an exclamation point on production vehicle number 300,000, Porsche went all-out by building a Boxster Spyder with Platinum Silver paint and Carrera red leather interior.
