Honda moving up mid-cycle refresh of Civic amidst criticism

Automotive News reports that Honda is itching to release a mid-cycle refresh for the company's 2012 Civic. In response to a harsh criticism from reviewers and the model's first failure to earn a coveted Recommended rating from Consumer Reports in recent memory, the automaker has apparently decided to pull ahead the model's refresh to 2013 instead of 2014. The report quotes John Mendel, American Honda Executive Vice President, as saying that his company is "appropriately energized" by feedback from critics and customers alike.

Nintendo improves the 3DS eShop

Nintendo will be adding a few new features to their 3DS eShop.  This November update will include downloadable add-on updates to existing games, limited-play demos, sleep mode downloads and a web based eShop.  I'm really excited about the web based eShop.  It will be so much easier browsing the increasingly growing number of titles in the eShop versus the endless scrolling and searching on the small 3DS screen.  It seems like Nintendo 3DS will be getting lots of updates this November.

The vehicle uses a complete powder-coated Art Morrison chassis with a front independent suspension and a four-link rear. An all-aluminum, fuel-injected 6.2-liter General Motors LS3 V8 sits between the frame rails and cranks out 430 horsepower. Hardware. We'll be honest, there's nothing flashy here, but we don't think that something like the Apogee Jam necessarily needs to be another piece of eye candy. The adapter is pretty straightforward on the outside: guitar cable jack on one end with an output to USB (Mac) or iPad / iPhone on the other. There's only a single gain control wheel and a lone LED indicator that lets you know when the Jam is connected (but not ready), down to rock out or your input level is too high. Each of the aforementioned statuses has its own color - blue, green or red.

4G now counted among ‘ideal phone features' by 75% of consumers, survey finds

. It worked. 4G has been marketed so well by wireless carriers and vendors that people want it even if they don't quite know why. A recent survey conducted by market research and intelligence firm In-Stat found that 75% of respondents listed 4G as one of the features their ideal phone would include. When asked which carrier offered the fastest 4G speeds, most respondents were left stymied. “Although 4G is an important feature for handset buyers, there is a lot of confusion surrounding 4G,” In-Stat analyst Greg Potter said in a statement.

Android updates shown to be late and inconsistent – is it a problem?

While there are many pros and cons to using an operating system like Android over iOS, one of the major disadvantages that plagues Android users is the frequency and timing of official updates. Depending on the phone, its manufacturer, and even your carrier, operating system updates aren't guaranteed all the time and to be on time, especially if you're using an older Android device. On the other hand, iPhone users don't have such problems. Ever since the first iPhone, all of Apple's iPhones have been receiving updates consistently, and most importantly - at the same time.

iPad and cylindrical mirror used to create optical illusions

With the use of the iPad's multi-touch capability and a cylindrical mirror, the research group at the Ochanomizu Women's University has managed to come up with a pretty cool all-round display capable of creating mirror optical illusions. By using the iPad to project 2D visuals onto the cylindrical mirror they managed to create the illusion of a 3D object that can be rotated with the mirror. This technology, called Anamorphicons (a portmanteau of anamorphosis and icon) gives users a full 360 degree view of the object that's shown on the iPad's display.

It seems that the 32GB model will be a different variant apart from the 16GB model that we already know is heading towards AT&T. If you know someone with Alzheimer's and you're constantly worried about their whereabouts and welfare, Aetrex Worldwide and GTX Corp have developed the GPS Shoe, which as the name implies, will allow caregivers or family members to keep track of a patient with Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is a form of dementia, which can cause those afflicted by it to become confused, paranoid and unable to remember recent events. This can sometimes cause patients to wander about aimlessly and be confused by their surroundings, which can lead to dangerous situations such as walking into traffic.
