Though not quite a replacement for Mountain View's ill-fated dictionary, this 1,240 page tome contains the first Google image search result for each word in a run-of-the-mill dictionary. With a PHP script, London-based artists Felix Heyes and Ben West scraped the image from each search and compiled an alphabetically ordered PDF brimming with 21,000 images - safesearch-disabled warts and all. "It's really an unfiltered, uncritical record of the state of human culture in 2012," West told Creative Applications Network.

Best Buy Stores Will Also Sell EVO 4G LTE's On June 2nd (Pre-Orders Can Pick It Up Today)

Earlier today it was revealed that, after a brief stint at US Customs, Sprint stores would be stocking their store shelves with HTC EVO 4G LTE's for a release this Saturday, June 2nd. But what about those of you that pre-ordered the device at a 3rd party retailer like Best Buy. Good news. They'll be selling them on that same date as well. We got the tip from one of our readers today who works at Best Buy confirming that you can pretty much snag an Evolte from wherever you like.

What's more, if you're an existing pre-order, you can actually score the device as early as today in some stores, as leaked in the above internal email.

PSA: Verizon Galaxy Nexus' Android 4.0.4 update is rolling out now

Verizon said it was pushing out the Android 4.0.4 upgrade for its edition of the Galaxy Nexus, and it meant business: we've received tips and reports that some owners have been getting the update over the air within the past day. The long-overdue update upgrades the calendar and sorts out problems with email as well as the 4G device itself. It will likely take a few weeks before every Galaxy Nexus owner on Big Red is up to speed, but there's no doubt that many of them will just be happy to have caught up to the One True Nexus in features and fixes.

Foursquare, for those unfamiliar, allows users to check into locations. Sometimes this provides perks such as discounts and it also lets users leave comments about the establishment for other foursquare users. However one of the last things we'd expect from foursquare would be foursquare-related jewelry. Yes it looks like you will now be able to purchase customized jewelry which will be dependent on where you check in.

Google Nexus tablet appears in benchmarks, appears to run on quad-core Tegra 3

ASUS's seven-inch MeMo tablet has just ducked under the FCC's gates, but some benchmark results for a purported Google and ASUS team-up could tally with the same device. According to the listing, the Google Asus Nexus 7 will arrive with NVIDIA's quad-core Tegra 3 CPU, clocked at 1.3 GHz, while that (presumably) 7-inch screen packs a 768 x 1280 resolution. The hardware specs end there, but thanks to some investigation by Android Police and Rightware, it appears that this mystery tablet is running Android 4.1 — possibly the version number for Android's next iteration, Jelly Bean.

Renaissance Blood THD Now Available – Shows Off The Power of Nvidia's Tegra 3 Processor

We’ve been following Renaissance Blood THD since last November (back when it was still DaVinci THD), and it looks like it’s finally here, folks. Developed by Bridea and fresh off the Google Play Store, Renaissance Blood THD is the newest addition to the list of Tegra optimized titles found in the TegraZone. A bit different than what we were originally expecting, Renaissance Blood looks to be an on-rails first person shooter (FPS), similar to arcade classics of yesteryear like House of the Dead.

Movies encoded into gas, are gas chambers the new cinemas?

So we listen to music from an MP3 file or a CD most of the time, and watch movies on Blu-ray, DVD or head to the cinemas. How about changing the way we do the latter, through inhaling some gas. No, I am not talking about doing anything illegal here, but it seems that scientists have managed to come up with a way to stash away video in a totally new format – gas. This is the first time in history where images are stashed in a non-solid format, and can be played back afterwards.

Ford Fiesta sedan facelift spotted wearing squiggles

While the sedan is hardly our favorite Fiesta – that would be the forthcoming, Europe-only ST – as long as Ford still feels the need to sell a four-door sedan we suppose it's only fair that it get the same updates as the hatchback. We saw spy shots of the hatch back in March, but now we've got images of the sedan as well. Our spy shooters caught the Fiesta near the Nürburgring, and it looks to be sporting the same new headlights with integrated LEDs, new fascias, and a different hood design, just like the hatch.

In essence, a lot of its business comes from acquiring patent portfolios, and then licensing and / or suing companies to "enforce" them.

ICANN stops taking custom domain names at 7PM ET, details the TLD explosion June 13th

ICANN anticipated that we'd see the first fruits of its open season on top-level domains (TLDs) roughly a year after the hunt began; sure enough, it's winding down applications tonight. If you have the $185,000 plus $25,000 per year to make a domain your own, you've got until midnight GMT (7PM ET) to get that custom spin on the web. Don't think that you'll get the rubber stamp right away, though. ICANN plans to detail the requests on June 13th and consider any objections over similarity or multiple bids for the same name.

Off-contract pricing is pegged at £600, although multiple contracts are also available from the UK retailer. There doesn't appear to be any extra functionality on the special edition, although bragging rights do count for a lot. It's epic storytelling time at AllThingsD 10 as audience Q&A has begun, with Apple CEO Tim Cook opening up on why he came to join the company in the first place in response to a question from Lance Ulanoff of Mashable. To hear him tell it, an executive search firm came calling and he wasn't pressed - until five minutes into his meeting with Steve Jobs. We'll let him tell it: It was a very interesting meeting. Steve had hired an executive search firm to find someone to run operations. They kept calling, and eventually I said 'Okay, I'll talk.' I flew out Friday on a redeye for a Saturday morning meeting with Steve.

The crafty engineers at Google aren't the only ones working on augmented reality glasses. Researchers at the Instituto de Oftalmología Aplicada have created a prototype system, based around a head-mounted display and a pair of small cameras. Instead of overlaying info about landmarks or capturing video of your trampoline-based escapades, this prototype is simply meant to help the visually impaired detect and avoid obstacles. A small computer performs real-time analysis of the environment highlighting objects and color coding them to indicate distance.

Rumor: production for new iPhone to start at the end of Q2, or in Q3

Today's rumor about the upcoming iPhone claims that production for Apple's new smartphone will only start in late Q2 or in Q3. Unfortunately that time frame is vague enough so that it doesn't actually give us any solid indication of when the new iPhone will be released. Though with production only starting at the end of June at the earliest, a reveal next month at Apple's annual WWDC seems very unlikely. Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard something like that.
