Tasker app for Android on sale

Julie mentioned this app in her article on using NFC tags and promised a followup review. Well at the moment it's on sale on the Google Play Store for $1.99. That's 69% off it's normal price of $6.49. I've played with Tasker and it's a fantastic and powerful program allowing you to automate and manipulate all sorts of settings though it can be a bit complicated to wrap  your head around at times.  Well worth a look though if you want to extend  the functionality of your Android smartphone or tablet.

All that muscle gets pushed to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. According to Current Biology, researchers Charles Brown and Mary Bomberger Brown have been paying close attention to the swallow population in this particular section of Nebraska. They've found that the birds measured now have shorter wings than did the birds that were first studied back in 1982.

GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience. NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.

Google Glass is a pretty interesting piece of hardware although I am still debating with myself if I would actually wear something like that in public. However since Google Glass isn't available to the public just yet, user John has decided to hack out something similar, except this time it will be running on iOS which will no doubt please many Apple fans out there. The design itself isn't as pretty as Google Glass, but it is functional and according to John, it is made from a pair of glasses with projection screens built into it, and a gaming headset and as you can see in the photo above, will be running off the iPhone.

Using built-in cameras in PCs or smartphones, a new technology to be presented this week by Fujitsu Laboratories can measure pulse in as little as five seconds using built-in cameras in PCs or smartphones. It works by measuring variations in the brightness of the person's face thought to be caused by the flow of blood. It is based on the characteristic of hemoglobin in blood, which absorbs green light. It requires no special hardware and can measure pulse rate simply by pointing a camera at a person's face for as little as five seconds.

Chrysler adding 200 jobs at Ohio Jeep Wrangler plant

Chrysler is betting that the Jeep Wrangler will continue its strong sales surge as it continues to push the legendary brand out across the globe. The Auburn Hills automaker is reportedly adding 200 workers at the Toledo, Ohio plant that builds the Wrangler. What's more, those new hires will be at their posts quickly – they'll be on the job by April 1. Of those 200 workers, 130 employees will be there to relieve those who need breaks.
Why do they need so many relief workers? The Toledo Jeep Complex is currently working at a torrid pace with two ten-hour shifts.

Kevyn Orr, the new emergency city manager of Detroit, has a history with one of Michigan's most famous residents: Chrysler.
