The folks at Waze have released version 3.0 of their social-driven navigation application. This new version adds support for both Yelp and Foursquare, something I know many of you will highly appreciate. NTT DoCoMo and NEC Announces 6.7mm MEDIAS ES N-05D

The folks at NEC, in partnership with their main carrier partner NTT DoCoMo (Japan) have announced another good looking Android with another weird name. It's the MEDIAS ES N-05D and it's as thing as any phone will be – 6.7mm thin. The device also has a 4.3 inch 720pHD display, an 8 megapixel Exmor R C-MOS sensor, a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0 and more. The Bluetooth 4.0 radios inside make it compatible with Casio's new G-SHOCK “smart” watch as both devices require Bluetooth LE, an exclusive feature to this version of the standard.

If you happen to own Sprint's Google Nexus S 4G, you might be in for a treat as it appears that a leaked Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM has made its way online, and if the reports are to be believe, it seems that this particular ROM is the official ROM and chances are that this is the final build the carrier will be pushing out an in OTA update.

Samsung Galaxy Note Comes to AT&T on February 19

Wireless carrier AT&T has announced it will offer the Samsung Galaxy Note beginning February 19, but consumers can pre-order it online or any authorized retail stores from February 5 to 15 and have it delivered two days earlier. Choose from two color options: carbon blue and ceramic white. The Samsung Galaxy Note is part-smartphone and part-tablet. It features a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED screen with 1,280 x 800 resolution, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel back-facing camera with full HD video recording and playback, 16GB expandable internal memory, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity among others.

Motorola Defy Mini approved by the FCC (with AT&T friendly 3G bands)

Earlier this month, when Motorola officially introduced the Defy Mini XT320, it said that the handset would be launched in Europe, Latin America, and China. So, no mention of North America. However, the Defy Mini has been approved by the FCC today, with WCDMA 850 and 1900 connectivity in tow - hence it may be released by AT&T in the US, or by Canada's largest mobile carriers. We'll let you know if we hear anything official about this.

The Motorola Defy Mini is dust and water resistant, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Turbocharged Lamborghini? Not this decade, says Winkelmann

Fear not, Lamborghini fans. According to Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of the brand, the company's vehicles will remain naturally aspirated "for now." Winkelmann recently spoke with Autocar, and said that the Raging Bull will remain turbo-free for at least the remainder of the decade. That means we won't see a forced-induction Lamborghini until 2020 at the earliest. That means that it's crystal-clear that the next-generation Gallardo, set to debut in two years or so, will not show up with a turbocharged engine as its heart.
That's interesting news for a number of reasons.

Higher-end Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming soon?

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a high-end device as it is, that's for sure. Still, even when it was announced a few months ago, it wasn't the absolute top of the line smartphone. For those of you disappointed that, for example, its dual-core CPU is only clocked at 1.2 GHz, here's something interesting. The Galaxy Nexus which is currently the top performer in the NenaMark benchmark has a PowerVR SGX544 GPU under the hood.

Good news for those of you with Lenovo IdeaPad and ThinkPad tablets - according to reports online, the Android will be seeing upgrades to the latest version of the operating system sometime next quarter. The tablets have been out for awhile now (they launched last July with Android Honeycomb), the long overdue Ice Cream Sandwich update will definitely be a welcome addition when it arrives. It won't be one of the earlier tablets to get ICS goodness, but like the saying goes: “better late than never”.

Samsung Officially Announces the Galaxy S Advance

Our friends at Samsung have today announced a new smartphone headed for many different regions around the globe. It's called the Samsung Galaxy S Advance and is positioned as a mid-range smartphone despite having what some would consider  high-end specs. We're getting a 4 inch Super AMOLED display with a 1GHz dual-core processor (make and model unknown), 768MB of RAM, 8GB or 16GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and more.

The European Commission has approved Sony's decision to buy Ericsson's stake of the Sony Ericsson joint venture. The ten year long alliance is coming to an end and the EU approval is a huge step for Sony. Back in October the ladder announced it will be buying Ericsson's stake in the joint venture for €1.05 billion.

You know the economy is really going to bloody hell when ATMs start to pay bank customers with dead rodents, which is exactly what happened to this guy on the right. He got his cash and the dead Mickey on the left. His name is Gholam Hafezi and he was visiting his daughter in Ersboda, UmeÃ¥, in the north of Sweden. He wanted to take out 700 Swedish Kronor from this ATM located inside a Coop Forum, one of the shops of a famous Swedish supermarket chain: “I got my 700 kronor but I never got the receipt. At the same time, I saw a cord that was jamming the ATM slot.”

Yes, you know where this is going. But Hafezi didn't at the time.

AT&T's HTC Titan II hits the FCC with LTE in tow

Initially known as HTC Radiant, the HTC Titan II was announced by AT&T earlier this month at CES 2012 as the world's first Windows Phone handset to feature a 16MP camera. Think the "standard" Rolls-Royce Phantom is expensive at $380,000. Try $1.2 million on for size. That's how much the latest special-edition Phantom was going for, but the astronomic price tag hasn't prevented the (*ahem*) Rolls-Royce of automakers from selling every last one. The model in question is the Year of the Dragon edition, which was first released just this past August.

Nokia have now confirmed via their official Twitter feed that major updates have already begun rolling out to a number of devices currently running Symbian Anna, bumping them up to Symbian Belle, news that a lot of Nokia fans will no doubt welcome with open arms. Devices including the N8, as well as the likes of Nokia's E7, C7, E6, X7, C6-01 and 500 will all now ship with Symbian Belle pre-installed. The latest iteration of the Symbian OS brings functionality and a general user experience more inline with that of Android and iOS.

Ford reports biggest profits since '98, still fails to meet estimates

Ford has announced the company's single largest profit since 1998, thanks in part to a one-time tax gain. The company drew in a net income of $13.6 billion last quarter and the news marked the automaker's 11th consecutive profitable quarter. For perspective, Ford made $190 million in 2010. The company's net income was bolstered by the fact that Ford eliminated a valuation allowance against deferred tax benefits. The company created the valuation allowance in 2006 when it began reporting operating losses.

. Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly said during an Apple Town Hall meeting on Wednesday that Apple employees will receive a generous discount on Apple products in return for their hard work. Employees typically receive a 25% discount off of hardware, but they will soon be able to purchase a new Mac computer at a $500 discount or an iPad with a $250 discount, 9to5Mac reported.

Apple's share of the global smartphone market reportedly topped the market share of all Android vendors combined in the fourth quarter last year, and nowhere was the iPhone's lead more dominant than at AT&T. The nation's No.2 carrier on Thursday reported its earnings for the December quarter, stating that smartphone activations totaled 9.4 million units. Apple's iPhone lineup accounted for 7.6 million activations, or 81% of all smartphones AT&T activated during the three months ended in December.

Next Land Rover Defender to be built in India?

When Tata's purchase of Jaguar and Land Rover began to appear inevitable, the question "Would you buy a Jaguar made in India?" was oft repeated. Yet it looks like Land Rover will be the first of the two brands to try to benefit from this kind of Anglo-Indian synergy: a report in Autocar states that the 2015 Land Rover Defender will be built at Tata's plant in Pune, India. The Defender is a truly old school body-on-frame SUV that sells in small numbers compared to the rest of the Land Rover line.
