Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG. Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG.

Sony Entertainment will be hosting a PlayStation Meeting in Manhattan on February 20, Wednesday, and the PlayStation 4 is expected to be unveiled there. Images of the PlayStation 4 controller, both as a mockup and in-the-flesh, have been leaked online. The design is similar to the previous versions, with a flat surface at the center that is rumored to be a touchpad.

Volvo releases extensive model updates for 2014

The 2014 model year is going to see big changes for the Volvo lineup. The biggest news is that the "60 cluster" models (the S60, V60 and XC60) are receiving some substantial updates despite not being all that old, and Volvo is also refreshing the S80, V70 and XC70 models. Of course, the 2014 model year also marks the departure of the C30 and C70 from its lineup, and we still have at least a year to wait until we see the redesigned XC90. Except for the XC90, all of the 2014 Volvos will be getting noticeable design updates. The S60, V60 and XC60 get more in-depth changes, including a full front facelift.

Weird Kickstarter project of the week – CHERRY on the bag

I knew this was going to be an odd Kickstarter project the moment I saw the company name - CHERRY on the bag. I expected the product to have a cherry logo or at least be Red in color. It has neither… What is it. CHERRY on the bag is a collection of Black full-grain calfskin leather bags, cases and wallets. The bags look nice enough, but the feature that is supposed to make you want to pledge for this crowdfunded project is their built in NFC chip. NFC stands for near field communication. Many of the latest and greatest Android smartphones have this capability built in.

GM nets income of $4.9B in 2012, down from $7.9B in 2011

General Motors released a statement about its income for the 2012 calendar year today, reporting a net income of $4.9 billion and an earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) figure of some $7.9 billion. Per share that breaks down to $2.92, versus net income of $4.58 per share last year. These numbers are in contrast to the automaker's revenue figures, which rose in 2012 to $152.3 billion from $150.3 billion in 2011.
