Case-Mate Ultra-Slim Tuxedo Case for the new iPad

Case-Mate Ultra-Slim Tuxedo Case for the new iPad

The one thing I don't like about Apple's Smart Cover for the iPad is that the magnets in the hinge sometimes let go of the iPad.  One of the things I don't like about most folio style cases is the frame that completely obscures the bezel of my iPad.  Not only does the frame obscure the nice white bezel, sometimes it can interfere with using the touchscreen.  Case-Mate has a new folio-style cover that eliminates both those issues.  The front of the Ultra-Slim Textured Tuxedo Case is a Smart Cover-style cover with magnets to sleep/wake the iPad.  There's no frame for the iPad; instead, you attach the back of the Tuxedo Cover to the iPad wi

Lenovo IdeaPad U310 and U410 undress for the FCC's czars

When Lenovo took the wraps off its IdeaPad U310 and U410 at CES, we were left feeling happy / sad. On the one hand, we were dismayed by the half-hearted inclusion of a memory card slot, but the company did earn high marks for sticking to that sleek Ultrabook form factor and pricing the duo at a $700 entry point. Now that luxurious-looking laptop pair's making another public appearance, stopping by the FCC for a step and repeat and splaying its guts and user manual in the process.

Scotts Snap Lawn Care System Snap Spreader Review

When Julie asked if I would like to review the Scotts® Snap® Spreader System and Snap-Pac fertilizer, I told her I would be glad to.  I love having a nice yard to show off to everyone. Mowing is one of my favorite things to do around the house, although I don't like to weed-eat.  Taking care of my lawn and making it look its best makes me feel like I have accomplished something. Conventional spreaders are convenient but can be a hassle.

While we may still have some time to wait as the board of directors responsible for the telescope determine the right area to build it in. Tonio Liuzzi heading home to Itay's Superstars series with Mercedes AMG

Italy's Superstars Series may have seemed like an insignificant championship in the past, but drivers and manufacturers alike are beginning to take notice of what is rapidly emerging as Italy's equivalent of Germany's DTM, Japan's Super GT or Australia's V8 Supercars series. One of those drivers is Tonio Liuzzi, and one of those manufacturers is Mercedes-Benz. The German automaker had been represented in the series before, but is now launching an officially factory-sanctioned works effort with a specially-prepared C63 AMG touring car fielded by Caal Racing.

ZTE announces 2011 financials: turnover up, profits down, political scandals tricky

ZTE's annual earnings report is out and it's a mixed bag for the Chinese company with aspirations to go west. Revenues grew 23 percent to 86.25 billion RMB ($13.7 billion) but net profit fell a hefty 36.6 percent to 2.06 billion RMB ($327 million). More than half of ZTE's operating revenue came from overseas as the company moves into the global space and, while some of that cash came from its smartphone business, much more poured in from the infrastructure arm that supplies LTE equipment to networks.

We've got some good news and some bad news for you. Sony Mobile has just released a beta ICS ROM for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, which allows you to experience the goodies of the latest Android version on your smartphone right away. The sad part is that it comes with too many compromises, which means that it's probably only worth flashing if you are a developer. To apply the update, you'll have to unlock the bootloader of your Xperia PLAY and that will prevent you from getting the official update whenever it hits.

Apple and Foxconn agree to drastically improve working conditions following Fair Labor Association report

The Fair Labor Association has released its findings from the lengthy investigation of working conditions at Foxconn's Chinese plants where Apple products are made. While the PR and report largely avoid over the top rhetoric and direct condemnations of the companies, they hardly paint a rosy picture. The watchdog found that in the last year all three factories violated not just FLA code for hours worked, but Chinese legal limits of 36 hours of overtime per month. During peak periods, employees worked more than 60 hours a week on average and many more than seven days in a row.

Google Play Store Glitch Makes Paid Apps Disappear

Not sure how widespread this problem is, but we've gotten enough Phantips to justify a post. Apparently, the Google Play Store is experiencing another hiccup this time, where users' paid applications are disappearing from their “Installed/Up To Date” apps list. Instead of showing paid apps, users are being greeted with either blank or RPC errors. This of course is causing concern for stock and more so rooted users who typically associate bugs like this with whichever ROM they're currently running.

Samsung Galaxy Note shipments exceed 5 million

The failure of the Dell Streak may have told us otherwise but it seems there is a demand for gigantic smartphones/tiny tablets after all and that people have no problem stretching their hands and pockets as long as the device in question is good (which the Streak clearly wasn't). This is being proved by the strong demand for the Samsung Galaxy Note of which 5 million handsets have been shipped till now. It's still not as good as some of the other popular handsets out there, including Samsung's own Galaxy S II but considering the phone's rather odd dimensions we think the phone is doing rather well.

One of the inevitable pleasures of owning a vehicle like the Subaru BRZ or Toyota GT 86 (better known as the Scion FR-S on this side of the globe), is the level of go-faster, look-faster and sound-faster parts served up by any number of willing companies. Whether its from a factory-backed performance group or another reputable company, bolting on a slew of goodies is one of the easiest ways to personalize your ride. Toyota Racing Development has evidently wasted no time in coming up with a few special components for the GT 86, including a free-flowing exhaust, fully adjustable suspension and a monoblock caliper kit.

Shell struggles to pay $1B oil bill to Iran due to sanctions

With the price of a barrel of oil beyond $100 per drum, global oil powerhouse Royal Dutch Shell is raking in some serious coin. But while Shell is bringing in the big bucks, it still cannot pay one very important client. Bloomberg is citing four sources who claim that Shell is finding it difficult to pay Iran about $1 billion due to financial sanctions put in place by the United States and Europe. The bill is reportedly the result of about eight million barrels of oil.

AT&T to Sell Nokia Lumia 900 for $99

AT&T has confirmed it will be selling the Windows Phone-powered Nokia Lumia 900 beginning April 8 for only $99 with the usual two-year contract. This would be a bold move for Nokia to sell a smartphone with high-end features at a way, way lower cost. Nokia hopes the Lumia 900's low price would finally earn the company some form of recognition in the United States, a market the Finland-based cell phone empire has been struggling to tap.

Wotancraft – Handmade Leather Camera Cases and Bags

In my opinion, Gadgets + Leather = Bliss. If you feel the same way, then you're going to love browsing through the Wotancraft web site of truly handmade leather watch straps, camera straps and camera bags. The prices may be a little spendy (the camera case/holster you see pictured above is $169USD), but knowing these goods are made by real artisans and not an assembly line makes the prices a little easier to accept. Motorola “Blade” Images Surface – Possible Intel Medfield RAZR Variant?

A few images of a new Motorola Razr variant has surfaced thanks to PhoneHK who is building quite a reputation for leaking all of Motorola’s best kept secrets. So, what did they turn up this time. Well, apparently, all we really have is a codename which, I have to admit — sounds pretty badass. The phone you see before you is the Motorola Razr Blade (told ya, it was badass) and judging from the front shot of its chin, bears a striking resemblance to that really poor conceptual/promo/MS Paint image of Motorola’s upcoming Intel Medfield device (took me awhile to figure out where I’d seen it before).
