Chinese Company Claims Apple Infringes “iPad” Trademark

Apple winds itself into another legal trouble, this time over the term “iPad.” Proview Electronics, a Taiwanese display manufacturer, claims Apple has no right to use the name “iPad” into China. Apple has already bought the trademark from Proview in 2006, but apparently the deal is not loophole-proof. Proview's unit in Shenzhen, China, claims it owns the rights to use “iPad” in China. The company has sued Apple last December for $1.6 billion and the Chinese court ruled in Proview's favor.
