Blackberry Playbook to get “something wonderful” in App World later today

Blackberry Playbook to get “something wonderful” in App World later today

The Blackberry Playbook featured some pretty decent hardware when it first launched back in 2011, but unfortunately interest for the device did not seem to pick up and the tablet has since been relegated to a sales item where retailers are offering it on the cheap. That's not to say that RIM has completely given up on the Playbook. In fact there have been several leaks (here and here) that indicated that the tablet could be in for a refresh with 4G on board. No word on when that will launch, but thanks to Anders Jeppsson, an employee at RIM, it looks like "something wonderful" for the Playbook will be happening later today.

Scion xB, xD models getting the axe

Scion xB, xD models getting the axe

Scion has long been labeled as a "youth brand," so perhaps we shouldn't be surprised to read word of parent Toyota turning over the marque's aging nameplates so quickly. According to Ward's Auto, Scion is set to kill off its xB and xD models – the first a onetime icon for the brand, the latter an econobox that never truly caught on with buyers (not unlike it's predecessor, the xA). A model like the xB was always going to be a love-hate proposition, and indeed, the subcompact sharply divided opinion because of its its t-square styling and funky stance back when it was introduced in 2004.

Volkswagen E-Bugster concept lowers its lid in Beijing

Back in January at the Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled a concept car called the E-Bugster. A chopped-down, electric-powered Beetle roadster, the E-Bugster cut a lean, mean, green profile. The only thing that was missing, ironically, was a chance to see the convertible with its top off.

Italy to Launch Italo; Ferrari-Style High Speed Train

Italy to Launch Italo; Ferrari-Style High Speed Train

A train service called Italo is said to be launching soon in Italy. The high speed, Italo which is operated by Nuovo Transporto Viaggiatori (NTV) will begin its services on the 28 of April after which it will be a connector between Milan, Rome and Naples. The new and fangled locomotive is being touted as the most advanced train in Europe. While the train's top speed of 186 mph is nowhere near the highest speed of commercial trains like the Maglev Train from Shanghai, China that can run at 268 mph, it certainly is no slouch.
