Denied! Apple's multi-touch trademark

Never mind that Apple is the most valuable company in the US – they still cannot have their way in everything, as the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has denied Apple the trademark for multi-touch technology, claiming that the term "multitouch" has taken on generic meaning. In more simple terms, this means plenty of other people use it to describe just how touchscreen technology is evident on a slew of other devices apart from Apple's own range, including Android and Windows smartphones, tablets, and notebooks.

Samsung Brings HD to the Galaxy: Samsung Galaxy S2 HD

Samsung already produces some pretty stunning smartphone displays but they've just upped the ante in Korea by announcing the Samsung Galaxy S2 HD. The Galaxy S2 HD shares almost identical specs as the Galaxy S2 LTE already announced for the region – including a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 8MP camera, and NFC chip – but sports a 4.65-inch HD screen with 720 x 1260 pixel resolution. The S2 HD will be available on all of Korea's major carriers but international availability hasn't been announced.

The same day it announced the Omnia W (its first Windows Phone Mango handset), Samsung also made important Android-related announcements. First of all, the company unveiled that the Galaxy S II i9100 achieved 10 million sales worldwide since its launch (late April this year). Secondly, Samsung has presented the Galaxy S II HD LTE (pictured below), a bigger version of the Galaxy S II LTE announced about a month ago in Europe.

More leaks for you today. This time, it pertains to the HTC Vigor that should be seeing a launch on Verizon sometime soon. Droid-Life got their hands on some profile shots of the device all its glory. There’s not much to see here – it’s your typical HTC design, but you can see a bit of “Verizon” strewn about that back cover.
HDBlog was able to scrape up a couple of video tours of the HTC Vigor, likely to be used on the device itself. Users will most probably be directed to a “getting started” guide upon setting their phone up where they can view these.

Samsung might have already announced T-Mobile's variant of the Galaxy S II, but here at Mobilize the carrier's gone and revealed all the nitty-gritty details. We can now confirm that the 4.52-inch smartphone wields a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, eschewing Sammy's 1.2GHz Exynos found on its other stateside brethren. And much like the just announced Amaze 4G, it'll be one of the first phones to take advantage of the carrier's 42Mbps HSPA+ and T-Mobile TV functionality.

Cop potentially car surfing is crazy

Normally, the best place to operate a motor vehicle is in the driver's seat. Someone up near Montreal managed to capture a police officer who hasn't quite figured that out. Instead, the cop is seen sitting on the hood of his cruiser while the automobile slowly rolls to a stop. We're not entirely sure what's going on here, and there's a good chance that someone else is working the controls. Still, it certainly looks like this cop is trying his hand at vehicular surfing.
