1,400 Mitsubishi vehicles lost in shipping tragedy

A cargo ship carrying 1,400 Mitsubishi vehicles from Japan and Thailand collided with another vessel off the coast of Belgium and the Netherlands yesterday. The 485-foot Baltic Ace was carrying cars from Zeebrugge, Belgium to Kotka, Finland when it collided with the 439-foot Corvus J. While the Corvus J sustained damage during the incident, it is not in danger of sinking, and its 12-man crew is currently still on board. The Baltic Ace, meanwhile, went under.

Apple Bringing Back Mac Production In The U.S. Next Year

Earlier this week, we reported about the possibility that some iMacs could be assembled here in the U.S. The assumption was based on the "Assembled in USA” caption that is etched into the casing of the new iMac. Thankfully, Apple CEO Tim Cook is giving us some insight into the company's plans. In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Cook confirms that Apple will bring back “some” production of its iMacs in the U.S.
“Next year we are going to bring some production to the U.S. on the Mac. We've been working on this for a long time, and we were getting closer to it. It will happen in 2013. We're really proud of it.

RIM to launch BBM Money in Indonesia, allows the sending of money through BBM

It looks like RIM is hoping to expand the capabilities of its BBM platform beyond mere text messaging, and over in Indonesia the Canadian company has announced that they will be launching BBM Money. In case the name itself wasn't obvious or didn't give away any clues, BBM Money is RIM's expansion of its BBM platform which will now allow BBM users to send other BBM users money, making it a pretty useful and convenient tool to conduct transactions on the go. The money sent to users can then be withdrawn via bank cash machines which sounds like a pretty straightforward solution.

Toshiba Excite 10 SE Android Tablet

Toshiba has just introduced the Toshiba Excite 10 SE, an 10″ tablet running on Android 4.1 aka “Jelly Bean”. Inside, users will find an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 16GB of storage which can be supplemented by a microSD memory card. This particular model is WiFi-only and there is no word about a 3G model at this point. Given that the tablet costs ($350), Toshiba may want to keep the production line making a single model to streamline things.
The tablet also features two cameras: a 3 Megapixel one in the rear, and a 720p camera in the front (Toshiba says “HD”) along with SRS Premium Voice Pro stereo speakers.

Within Bodie Stroud's '69 Mustang beats the heart of Mario

There are plenty of custom car builders out there, and like many of them, Bodie Stroud's talents are probably only outdone by his love and knowledge of cars. Take this project he completed last year, for example. While it is instantly recognizable as a 1969 Boss Mustang, Stroud has customized almost every aspect of the car combining the heart of a Can-Am racecar with the styling of a classic funny car to create one of the coolest modified first-gen Mustangs you'll ever see. The build process was documented – and recently released – by director Julian King in a video called, The Real Thing.
