Sony Ericsson Posts Vague Photos of Device(s) to be Announced at CES

Sony Ericsson’s teasing us again. As you know by now, they’ll have a pretty strong presence at this year’s CES and are preparing to announce some interesting new devices. We, of course, want nothing  more than to see the Sony Ericsson Nozomi or the Arc HD. Sony Ericsson hasn’t given a clue as to how many devices they’ll be announced exactly but if history repeats itself it’ll certainly be more than one – maybe even more than two.

The photos above (grouped into one actual image), posted on Facebook today, may not all be the same devices for all we know. Or it could just be one device.

Google Will Force OEMs to Include Android 4.0′s Holo Theme In Their ROMs for Developer-Friendly User Interfaces

Google Will Force OEMs to Include Android 4.0′s Holo Theme In Their ROMs for Developer-Friendly User Interfaces

This is interesting, to say the absolute least. Google will be requiring OEMs of market-enabled Android 4.0 devices to include the OS's “Holo” theme in their ROM. This doesn't mean that custom skins are going away, though. Instead, the mandatory theme and framework will allow market developers to create applications that take advantage of Android 4.0′s new style.
Simply put, developers can create applications for the default Android 4.0 environment without having to worry about an OEM's custom skin mucking up the design they dreamt up.

$50 Tablet Taking India by Storm

$50 Tablet Taking India by Storm

Time for an update on the story of the “computer for masses,” an Android-based tablet with a price tag of only 2,500 rupees (~$50) thanks to government subsidization. The road to cheap Android for all wasn't a smooth one, as the Indian government had to cancel their initial contract before finding a new manufacturer to produce the device. After much speculation, the tablet, now dubbed the Aakash, went on sale December 14th. The response has been “overwhelming” according to a spokesperson for Datawind, the British company now in charge of manufacturing the slate.

Steve Jobs action figure

Steve Jobs action figure

I don't know about you, but Apple fans might not take too kindly to the Steve Jobs action figure that they see over here. Even more so when this action figure is churned out by InIcons from China, which clearly has nothing to do with Cupertino, making this unofficial Steve Jobs in a plastic form factor a fake, so to speak. And we all know how much the late Steve Jobs loathes not having things under his control, never mind the fact that he has mellowed down in his later years. This lifelike collectible will come complete with Steve's signature black turtleneck, a pair of rimless glasses, as well as the classic pair of jeans.

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Note Going to Sprint, Too

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Note Going to Sprint, Too

The Samsung Galaxy Note may make its way to more than one carrier soon if information received by SprintFeed is to be trusted. According to a “proven source” of theirs (and they have offered up confirmed information in the past) Sprint is said to soon be getting the Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5.3 inch phoneblet that prides itself on its beautiful easy-to-draw-on display and dual-core processor. We'd naturally expect 4G to be inside, but as Sprint is making the migration from WiMax to LTE there's no word on which radios might be inside. Hell, that goes for any 2012 device from now on.

Appgravity: an alternative way to look for Android apps

Appgravity: an alternative way to look for Android apps

While the Android Market website is a good way to check out apps, its search capabilities are pretty limited (despite being created by Google). It's quite hard to find what you want unless you know exactly what it is. Well, some folks have decided to come up with a solution to the problem by creating a new search engine called Appgravity. This search engine works similar to Google (as far as I can tell after trying a few searches) and brings you all the results you want directly from the Android Market. It works fast, and there are quite a number of options when it comes to sorting the search results by what you're looking for.
