Mozilla has been hammered lately with reports that Chrome may soon overtake it in market share. StatCounter data suggests that Chrome may be catching up with Mozilla in November, while it may have to surrender its number 2 spot on weekends within three weeks. Net Applications has a more conservative data set that indicates that, if there is no major change in browser trends, Chrome could exceed Firefox market share by May or June 2012. StatCounter has more comprehensive and consistent data than NetApplications and we tend to go with assumptions that, by the end of the year, the browser battle will have turned into a two-horse race.
