Great news for fans of Google Maps, Google has just announced a brand new update for desktop version of Google Maps which enables WebGL support. What this means is that it'll be able to harness the power of your graphics card without the need to install any additional software - just run it within a WebGL-supported browser such as the latest versions of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. In addition to running more smoothly, WebGL support enhances the transitions from Maps to Street View, enables vector drawings on Google Maps (like Maps for mobile), and more.
